Today I was bussing down Hastings, and on the way, at a bus stop before Main, I (along with other passengers on the bus) witnessed a man sitting on top of another man, repeatedly punching his head. In that short moment I noticed some people banging on the window, presumably telling the man to stop, a woman saying “that’s not right” and even a few people laughing. The bus then continued on its route. I looked around and no one was calling the police. I was disgusted. Was that some sort of show? We watch it then go back to whatever we were doing? I hate people sometimes. So I called the police and told them where it happened. It took less than 5 minutes. Less than 5 minutes to possibly save someone’s life. A homeless woman sat next to me, and told me about how this always happens, and most likely the guy who was being beat up did something wrong, like not paying for his drugs. I told her that that could be possible, but that’s up to the police to find out, which is why we need to call. She then told me about how she doesn’t like fights, and that she would never get in one herself, because she won’t beat someone up and she won’t do anything to cause someone to beat her up. I really wish she wasn’t in the situation she was in, because she is a better person than so many other people in this world. Yeah that was an interesting bus ride.
